Birchwood Grove CP School

Supporting charities

Charities have important roles to play as campaigners and advocates, as well as directly supporting important causes.

We are proud as a whole school to support a number of charities and believe this helps children understand important issues throughout their local, national and global communities and ways they can make a difference. We believe that supporting a variety of charities also nurture many important values such as respect, nurture, empathy, collaboration and resilience.

Annually we take part in many charity events such as: anti-bullying week, children in need, red nose day and Christmas jumper day. In addition many year groups choose to support different charities that may be associated with their learning and individual children also raise money for causes personally important to them.

Royal British Legion

Throughout November we raised money for The Royal British Legion. Our ambassadors sold poppies to the whole school community. The children throughout the school also learnt about Remembrance day and contributed to a whole school display.
